About Esquer Park in Tempe
Esquer Park is a 3-acre urban oasis located in Tempe, Arizona. Opened in 2008, the park has been named in honor of the Esquer family, who have a long and storied history in the Tempe community. Eduardo and Rita Esquer moved to Tempe in 1940 to work on farms in south Tempe, and in 1946, they settled in the Victory Acres neighborhood with their 10 children.
The park features a variety of recreational facilities catering to different age groups and interests. One of its main attractions is a 7,000 square foot poured concrete skate park, which is open to both skateboarders and BMX riders. The skate park's layout consists of two connected bowls, with one bowl featuring over-vert pockets and the other including a spine ramp and a box ledge for performing stall tricks.
For younger visitors, Esquer Park offers a splash pad and a playground, providing a fun and safe environment for children to play and cool off during hot Arizona days. The park also includes several sports facilities, such as basketball courts and a table tennis area, encouraging active lifestyles among community members.
Esquer Park is designed with community gatherings in mind, featuring picnic areas equipped with tables, grills, and ramadas. These amenities make the park an ideal location for family outings, social events, or simply enjoying a peaceful afternoon in nature.
The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is equipped with lighting for evening use. Its location in a residential area makes it a convenient recreational spot for local families and individuals seeking outdoor activities close to home.
