About Kessler Mountain Regional Park in Fayetteville
Kessler Mountain Regional Park is a 620-acre park located in southwest Fayetteville, Arkansas. The park encompasses Kessler Mountain, which reaches an elevation of 1,856 feet above sea level.
The park consists of two main areas: a 400-acre nature preserve with hiking and mountain biking trails, and a 200-acre developed area with athletic fields and other recreational facilities. The nature preserve portion contains over 10 miles of natural surface trails winding through mature Ozark hardwood forest. These trails range from easy to difficult and are popular with hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers.
In the developed area of the park, there are multiple lighted sports fields to accommodate soccer and baseball games and tournaments. A large playground funded by the local Rotary Club is located near the park entrance. Paved multi-use trails connect different areas of the park and link to the wider Fayetteville trail system.
Kessler Mountain Regional Park opened in 2016 and has undergone multiple phases of development since then. The park aims to balance preservation of the mountain's natural environment with opportunities for outdoor recreation and organized sports. Its location on the edge of Fayetteville makes it an accessible natural area for residents while still providing expansive forest habitat.
