Greg Brown Park is a small urban green space located in Berkeley, CA. The park covers an area of 0.58 acres (25,270 square feet), offering a variety of recreational opportunities for local residents.
Originally called the Harmon Street Neighborhood Park, it was formally renamed after a youth who collapsed and later died while playing in a Berkeley High School basketball game. The park's history dates back to the early 1900s when the City of Berkeley purchased the initial parcel of land. In 1973, additional parcels were acquired using funds from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The park and its clubhouse were officially dedicated at an open house held on May 27, 1976. Greg Brown Park serves as a neighborhood gathering place, providing a mix of recreational facilities for children and adults alike.
The park's hours of operation vary seasonally. From September to June, it is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (extending to 6:30 pm during Daylight Savings). During the summer months of June to September, the park remains open until 8:00 pm, allowing visitors to enjoy the space during longer daylight hours.
