Charlie Dorr Mini Park is a small urban green space located in Berkeley, California. Covering an area of 0.2 acres (approximately 8,700 square feet), this compact park serves as a local recreational spot for the surrounding community.
Originally called the Acton Tot Lot, Charlie Dorr Mini Park was designed and developed with significant community involvement in 1972. The park's creation was a collaborative effort, with volunteers building and installing a shade arbor, while a private contractor completed the remaining construction. In November 1973, it was officially named after the prior owner of the site.
The park's design and community-driven development earned it recognition, receiving the 1975 Park Facility Citation from the California Parks and Recreation Society, District III, for neighborhood participation in design concepts and volunteer labor.
Charlie Dorr Mini Park provides a variety of features for visitors, particularly catering to families with young children. The park includes a tot playground, making it an ideal spot for small children to play and socialize. Additionally, the park offers picnic areas complete with a gazebo, providing a pleasant setting for outdoor meals and gatherings.
