About Harborside Park in Chula Vista
Harborside Park is a 7.1-acre public park located at 670 Oxford Street in Chula Vista, California. The park, which recently reopened after undergoing renovations, serves as a vital recreational space for the Southwest Chula Vista community.
In December 2024, Harborside Park reopened with several improvements and new features. The renovations included resodding of the multi-purpose field, resurfacing of the basketball court, and refurbishment of the bathrooms. A permanent park ranger station was also added to enhance security and will be staffed during open hours.
One of the park's new highlights is a miniature soccer field, known as a mini-pitch, funded by Chula Vista native and professional soccer player Paul Arriola. This addition provides a dedicated space for soccer enthusiasts in the community.
The park operates on a schedule, being open to the public Monday through Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM, Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 7 PM. During weekdays, the park hosts free activities after school hours through the Outdoor Rec Club program.
Harborside Park's reopening marks a significant milestone for the community, as it had been closed since August 2022 due to safety concerns. The renovations and new security measures aim to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors of all ages.
