Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is located on S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Modesto, California. The park is currently undergoing a significant renovation project aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities for the local community and beyond.

The renovation project, funded by a grant from the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018 (Proposition 68), is set to transform the park with various new features and improvements. The City of Modesto received an $8.5 million grant for this renovation in 2021.

As part of the renovation, the existing King-Kennedy Memorial Center within the park will be expanded to include a new gymnasium. The project also includes plans for constructing a new youth baseball field with lighting, an events plaza featuring a stage, and an accessible exercise walking path.

While the park is currently open for public use, it is in the planning and design phase of the renovation project. The improvements aim to significantly increase recreational opportunities for residents of the local community and beyond.
