César Chávez Park

Cesar Chavez Park is a small neighborhood park located at Foothill Boulevard and 37th Avenue in Oakland, California. The park covers approximately 2 acres and serves as a green space for the surrounding Fruitvale community.

Originally named Foothill Meadows Park, it was renamed in 1996 to honor Cesar Chavez, the noted labor leader and founder of the United Farm Workers of America. The park underwent significant renovations in 2002 and again in 2013 to improve its facilities and address safety concerns.

The park features open grassy areas, paved pathways, and a small creek (Peralta Creek) that runs through it. A pedestrian bridge crosses the creek, connecting different sections of the park. The renovations in 2013 added new play structures, a basketball court, and a mini soccer practice area.

Cesar Chavez Park serves as a gathering place for the local community, hosting events and providing recreational opportunities for residents. Its location between concentrated neighborhoods makes it an accessible green space in an urban setting.
