Arlington Heights Sports Park

Arlington Heights Sports Park is a 35-acre recreational facility located in Riverside, California. The park, situated in the Arlington Heights Greenbelt community, was designed to serve as a multifunctional sports complex and community gathering space.

The park's design incorporates elements that pay homage to Riverside's agricultural heritage. This includes architecture reminiscent of a farmhouse, three rows of citrus trees surrounding the park, and interpretive story panels detailing the history of Riverside's citrus farming community. The park even repurposes irrigation standpipes as bollards, further emphasizing its connection to the area's agricultural past.

Arlington Heights Sports Park features a variety of sports facilities to accommodate multiple activities and serve diverse community needs. The park includes lighted multipurpose fields for soccer and football, as well as lighted baseball fields. These fields are designed with careful consideration for multi-use functionality, incorporating grading that balances different sports requirements and allows for various field configurations to manage wear patterns on the turf.

In addition to sports fields, the park offers recreational amenities for visitors of all ages. It includes playgrounds for children, basketball courts for casual games, and a water play feature for cooling off on hot days. The California Parks & Recreation Society honored the park with the 2010 Award of Excellence for Facility Design: Sports Fields/Complexes, validating the city's efforts to create a high-quality, multifunctional public space.
