Hunter Hobby Park is a 32-acre special use park located in the Hunter Industrial Park neighborhood of Riverside, California. The park has a rich history dating back to the 1950s when Joe Hunter, a local industrialist, envisioned creating a miniature steam engine train experience for future generations.
At the heart of Hunter Hobby Park lies its most distinctive feature: a miniature railroad. The park includes approximately 10,000 feet of track, along with miniature trains that are operated and maintained by the Riverside Live Steamers (RLS), a group of dedicated railroad enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy free train rides on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, attracting as many as 20,000 riders annually.
The park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. It features softball fields for sports enthusiasts, as well as picnic areas with tables and barbecue grills for families and groups to enjoy outdoor meals. The green spaces provide ample room for leisure activities and relaxation.
