Discovery Park

Discovery Park is a sprawling 302-acre urban oasis located at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers in Sacramento, California. Serving as a gateway to the American River Parkway, this expansive park offers visitors a diverse range of recreational opportunities and natural experiences.

The park features extensive riverfront areas, providing stunning views of both the American and Sacramento Rivers. These waterways not only contribute to the park's scenic beauty but also support various recreational activities. Discovery Park houses one of Sacramento County's premier boat launches, with a six-lane ramp and floating docks that allow boaters to explore both rivers.

For land-based recreation, Discovery Park offers numerous trails suitable for hiking, jogging, and cycling. The park serves as the starting point for the 32-mile Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, which extends eastward to Folsom Lake. This makes Discovery Park a popular spot for both casual walkers and long-distance cyclists.

The park's landscape is diverse, featuring grassy open spaces, wooded areas, and riverside beaches. These varied environments provide habitats for local wildlife, making the park an excellent location for nature observation and birdwatching.
