Civita Park

Civita Park is a 14.3-acre public park located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, California. Opened in 2017, the park was developed on the site of a former quarry as part of the Civita master-planned community.

The park features a terraced design that cascades down the center of the former quarry site. Its layout includes a series of mesas connected by walking paths and trails. The park offers panoramic views of Mission Valley and the surrounding area.

Civita Park includes a variety of recreational facilities and green spaces. There are two playgrounds with shade structures - one for younger children and one with more challenging equipment for older kids. The park has a large open lawn area that can be used for picnics or informal sports.

Water features are incorporated throughout the park. There is a splash pad with 48 water jets for children to play in during warm weather. The park also has a mining relic terrace with historic mining equipment on display, paying homage to the site's industrial past.

For pet owners, Civita Park includes a dedicated dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the park's basketball half-courts. An outdoor amphitheater provides space for community events and performances.

The park emphasizes sustainability with drought-resistant landscaping and bioswales to naturally filter stormwater runoff. Walking paths wind through various themed garden areas, including scent gardens and succulent gardens. Public art installations and interpretive signage are placed throughout the park.

Civita Park is managed by the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department. It is open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM and offers free public parking.
