Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a small but scenic public space located in Coronado, California, near San Diego. Situated at the end of Orange Avenue, Coronado's main street, the park offers stunning views of San Diego Bay and the downtown San Diego skyline. The park covers approximately 1.2 acres and features well-manicured lawns, providing an open area for visitors to relax and enjoy the scenery.

The park's history is tied to Coronado's development, as it was once the site of the ferry landing that connected Coronado to San Diego before the construction of the Coronado Bridge. Today, a historic ferry tollbooth remains in the park as a reminder of this past. The park was established in 1986 to commemorate Coronado's centennial, hence its name.

Centennial Park is particularly popular for photography, especially during sunset when the San Diego skyline is beautifully illuminated. Many visitors, including wedding parties, come here to capture memorable photos against the backdrop of the bay and city. The park's location next to the current Coronado Ferry Landing adds to its appeal, with nearby shops and restaurants enhancing the visitor experience.

While the park is relatively small, it offers a peaceful retreat with several benches where visitors can sit and enjoy the views. On either side of the park, there are small sandy beaches that provide access to the bay. The Bayshore Bikeway, a popular cycling route, passes through the park, making it a nice stop for cyclists and pedestrians alike.

It's worth noting that while Centennial Park is a public space, it has some usage restrictions. For instance, the park may be reserved for groups of 25 or more people for events like wedding ceremonies, but only with a permit. Additionally, alcohol is not permitted in the park, in line with Coronado's municipal code for all parks and beaches.
