About Mariner's Point - Mission Bay Park in San Diego
Mission Point Park is located at the southern end of Mission Beach in San Diego, California. The park sits where Mission Boulevard terminates near the entrance channel to Mission Bay. As part of the larger Mission Bay Park system, Mission Point Park offers 8.6 acres of green space along the waterfront.
The park features grassy areas ideal for picnicking, sunbathing, and recreational activities. A rocky seawall helps prevent erosion along the shoreline. While there is no official swimming beach, visitors can access the calm waters of Mission Bay for activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and boating. The park provides scenic views of the bay and surrounding area.
Mission Point Park tends to be less crowded than the nearby ocean beaches, offering a more peaceful setting for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment. The park is open daily from 4:00 AM to 2:00 AM, though parking lot gates close at 10:00 PM. A maximum of 150 people are allowed in the park at one time.
Leashed dogs are permitted in the park during restricted hours - before 9:00 AM and after 6:00 PM from April to October, and after 4:00 PM from November to March. While swimming is allowed, there are no lifeguards on duty, so visitors should exercise caution in the water.
