About Old Town San Diego State Historic Park in San Diego
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, established in 1968, is a state-protected historical park located in the Old Town neighborhood of San Diego, California. The park commemorates the early days of San Diego, spanning the period from 1820 to 1870, when the area transitioned from Mexican to American rule.

Five original adobe buildings from the 19th century are preserved within the park, alongside reconstructed sites and early 20th-century buildings designed in a similar style.
At the heart of the park is the Historic Plaza, which serves as a gathering place and hosts various historical activities. The park also maintains a working blacksmith shop, where demonstrations showcase historical metalworking techniques.
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park offers educational experiences through museum exhibitions, living history demonstrations, and special events. The park's visitor center, located in the reconstructed Robinson-Rose House, features exhibits and a diorama depicting Old Town as it appeared in 1892.
The park is known for its cultural celebrations, including annual events such as Cinco de Mayo, Dia de los Muertos, and Fiesta Navidad. These festivals, along with regular performances by mariachi bands and Ballet Folklorico dancers, contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the park.
