24th & York Mini Park

24th & York Mini Park is a small urban park located at the intersection of 24th Street and York Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. Originally created in the early 1970s on the site of a burned-down bakery, this mini park has undergone renovations over the years to become a vibrant community space.

The focal point of the park is a 120-foot-long mosaic serpent sculpture based on the Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcoatl. This colorful, tiled structure winds through the park and doubles as an interactive water feature, with water spouting from the serpent's mouth. The mosaic design reflects the cultural heritage of the surrounding Latino neighborhood.

In addition to the serpent sculpture, the park features a children's play area with equipment such as swings and a small merry-go-round. The playground surface is made of safe, rubberized material. Picnic tables and benches are available for visitors to relax and enjoy the space.

The park is surrounded by colorful murals on adjacent buildings, adding to its artistic atmosphere. These murals, along with the mosaic serpent, make the park a visually striking and culturally significant spot in the Mission District.

Despite its small size, 24th & York Mini Park provides a welcome green space and recreational area in a dense urban neighborhood. It serves as a gathering place for local families and children, offering a slice of nature and play amidst the city streets.
