About Parque de los Pobladores in San Jose
Parque de los Pobladores is a small urban park located in the SoFA (South First Area) District of Downtown San Jose, California. Formerly known as Gore Park, it was renovated and expanded in 2012, transforming it into a more vibrant community space.
The park is situated at the intersection of South First Street and East William Street, serving as a gateway to the SoFA district. It features a selection of public art installations, centered around the theme of early pioneers in the area, paying homage to San Jose's history.
In 2012, the park underwent significant improvements to enhance its functionality and appeal. These upgrades included the addition of polished granite benches for seating, upgrades to on-site lighting, and the installation of new walking surfaces. These enhancements were designed to contribute to a more pleasant experience for visitors.
Parque de los Pobladores has become a focal point for community gatherings and events. From May 30 to September 12, 2024, the park hosted the DTSJ Weekly Night Market every Thursday evening. This free event brought together live music, local artisan vendors, food trucks, and a beer garden, creating a vibrant atmosphere that attracted many visitors.
While the park is relatively small, it serves as an important green space in the urban landscape of downtown San Jose, offering residents and visitors a place for relaxation and recreation.
