Lincoln Memorial Park

Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park is a significant public space located in downtown Denver, Colorado. The park, formerly known as Lincoln Park and Liberty Park, was officially renamed Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park in 2021. It is bounded by Lincoln Street on the east, Broadway on the west, Fourteenth Avenue on the south, and Colfax Avenue on the north.

The park serves as a tribute to veterans and houses several important monuments. One of the most notable features is the Colorado Veterans Monument, dedicated on Veterans Day in 1990. This monument, constructed from sandstone, includes a tower symbolizing strength and a beacon at the top representing lasting awareness and memory.

In 2021, the park saw the addition of the Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial. This new monument stands alongside the original and pays tribute to Colorado veterans who have fallen in service to their country. The memorial faced some challenges during its construction, as it had to be rebuilt due to damage caused by protests in Denver shortly before its initial completion.

More recently, in 2023, the park welcomed the General Rose Monument. This addition includes a bronze statue commemorating U.S. Army Major General Maurice Rose, a Denver native who was one of the highest-ranking U.S. servicemen killed by enemy fire in World War II.

The park not only serves as a place of remembrance but also as a community gathering space. In recent years, it has been used for various events, including holiday markets aimed at helping those in need.
