About Ruby Hill Park in Denver

Ruby Hill Park is an 80-acre public park located in southwest Denver, Colorado. The park takes its name from Ruby Hill, a 5,390-foot elevation hill within the park that offers panoramic views of the Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains. Originally acquired in 1954, the park has undergone significant development and improvements over the years to become a versatile recreational space for the community.

The park's most prominent feature is its topography, with the hill providing natural slopes that are utilized for various activities throughout the year. During winter months, the Ruby Hill Rail Yard transforms a portion of the park into an urban terrain park for skiers and snowboarders, featuring rails, boxes, and jumps suitable for beginners to advanced riders. This free amenity, typically open from January through March (weather permitting), has become a popular winter attraction since its inception in 2007.

In the warmer months, Ruby Hill Park offers a range of outdoor activities. The Ruby Hill Bike Park, opened in 2016, covers 7.5 acres and includes a slopestyle course, dirt jumps, pump tracks, and a skills course for mountain bikers of all levels. The park also features more traditional amenities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields.

A significant addition to the park is the Levitt Pavilion, an outdoor amphitheater that opened in 2017. This venue hosts numerous free concerts throughout the summer, providing a cultural hub for the community and visitors alike. The pavilion can accommodate up to 7,500 people, making it a substantial draw for music enthusiasts.

Ruby Hill Park also incorporates green initiatives, including a community garden where local residents can grow their own produce. The park's design takes advantage of its natural features, with walking trails that wind through the property, offering exercise opportunities and scenic views.

As part of ongoing improvements, the City of Denver continues to invest in Ruby Hill Park, enhancing its facilities and programs to meet the evolving needs of the community. The park serves as a year-round destination for recreation, entertainment, and community gatherings, embodying the city's commitment to providing diverse outdoor spaces for its residents.
