Ella P. Scantlebury Park

Scantlebury Park is a public recreational area located in the Dixwell neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut. The park serves as a vital community space for local residents and visitors alike.

Originally developed over 20-30 years ago, Scantlebury Park has been continuously maintained and improved through the efforts of dedicated community members, particularly the Friends of Scantlebury Park group. This group has been working in partnership with the Urban Resources Initiative (URI) to steward and enhance the park's features.

The park is known for its bustling atmosphere, attracting families from the nearby Dixwell area as well as visitors from across the city. It offers a diverse range of recreational facilities catering to various age groups and interests.

In recent years, Scantlebury Park has undergone several improvements. The park now features a mix of mature trees and newly planted vegetation, contributing to its green landscape. In 2023, volunteers worked on maintaining these trees, creating fresh mulch rings, and planting flowers near the skate park.

The park's popularity extends beyond its immediate vicinity, with people from different parts of New Haven visiting to enjoy specific amenities like the skate park and pickleball courts.
