About Del Prado Linear Park in Cape Coral
Del Prado Linear Park is a recreational area situated along Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral, Florida. The park was developed as part of a road widening project that extended from Pine Island Road to Kismet Parkway, offering visitors a range of amenities to enjoy.
The park features a 10-foot-wide sidewalk on both sides of Del Prado Boulevard, stretching approximately four miles from Pine Island Road to Kismet Parkway. This extensive pathway is equipped with lights, making it suitable for evening use and providing an excellent space for various activities such as jogging, rollerblading, biking, and walking.
One of the park's notable features is the set of eight fitness stations situated on the east side of the road, between Diplomat Parkway and Kismet Parkway. These stations allow visitors to exercise and keep fit while enjoying the park's scenery.
On the west side of Del Prado Boulevard, the park's path circles Lake Zurich and includes a Rain Garden located about a mile north of Pine Island Road, adding to the natural beauty of the area.
In 2018, Cape Coral voters approved a $60 million expansion project for the city's parks and recreation amenities, including improvements to Del Prado Linear Park. The expanded area, which opened to the public in March 2023, introduced several new features to enhance visitors' experience.
The park now includes a shaded playground with accessible and traditional swing seats, a moon rock climbing component, and a cozy cocoon spinning apparatus. Additionally, a fenced basketball court, improved landscaping and lighting, accessible and traditional parking, and public restrooms were added to the park.
