About Bubier Park in Fort Lauderdale
Huizenga Plaza is a 2.15-acre urban park located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Situated at the corner of Las Olas Boulevard and Andrews Avenue, the park offers scenic views of the New River and provides direct access to the city's Riverwalk.
Originally created by the Downtown Development Authority in the 1990s, Huizenga Plaza was designed to bring civic and cultural amenities to Fort Lauderdale's urban core. In 2003, it was renamed to honor prominent local businessman and philanthropist H. Wayne Huizenga.
The park features an open grassy area and a small amphitheater, making it a popular venue for community events, festivals, concerts, and outdoor fitness activities. A large fountain serves as a focal point, adding visual interest and a soothing ambiance to the space.
Huizenga Plaza plays an important role in Fort Lauderdale's evolving downtown landscape. As the area has transformed from a primarily business district to a more residential and mixed-use neighborhood, there are ongoing discussions and plans to redesign the park to better serve the needs of the growing local community.
The park is open daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, offering residents and visitors a place for relaxation, recreation, and community gathering in the midst of the bustling downtown area.
