Donald Lee & Virginia Joanne Rockwood Park

Rockwood Park is a small urban green space located in Gainesville, Florida. Spanning 1 acre, the park was established in 2015 after being generously donated by Donald Lee and Virginia Joanne Rockwood. This mostly open area serves as a valuable community resource and provides a tree-shaded spot for local residents to take a stroll.

The park features a variety of tree species, with signs identifying different types of flora. This educational aspect allows visitors to learn about the local plant life while enjoying the outdoors. A loop trail winds through the park, offering a pleasant path for walking and observing nature.

In 2019, the park was enhanced with the addition of an outdoor fitness equipment station, sponsored by Gainesville Health & Fitness. This installation provides community members with an opportunity to engage in physical activity within the park setting.

Rockwood Park also hosts a "Little Free Library," where community members can participate in a book exchange program, taking or sharing books as they please. This feature promotes literacy and community engagement within the park space.
