About GENA Park in Jacksonville
G.E.N.A. Park is located in the Englewood section of southeast Jacksonville, Florida. The park's name stands for Greater Englewood Neighborhood Association, which advocated for its creation. The idea for the park resulted from a collaboration between members of GENA and City Council member and former GENA president Suzanne Jenkins.
In December 2002, Ms. Jenkins authorized City funds to purchase the property from the Jacksonville Electric Authority. The City then created the park in 2004, with the grand opening ceremony taking place on December 8, 2004. GENA, which has been active in improving and beautifying the Englewood area in recent years, desired a park for the neighborhood children.
G.E.N.A. Park is a small community park that serves as a recreational space for local residents. It provides a place for children to play and for community members to gather. The park is situated just off Interstate 95, making it easily accessible to visitors from different parts of Jacksonville.
