About Blue Cypress Park in Jacksonville
Blue Cypress Park is a multi-faceted recreational facility located in the Arlington section of Jacksonville, Florida. The park spans 119.8 acres and offers a diverse range of amenities for sports, athletics, and leisure activities.
Originally an 18-hole golf course for the Edenfield River Estates development, Blue Cypress Park has undergone several transformations over the years. Due to its location in an environmentally sensitive area, plans were developed to reduce the golf course to 9 holes and utilize the remaining space for natural, resource-based public outdoor recreation.
The park features a 9-hole, par 36 golf course measuring 3,229 yards from the longest tees. This course, which reopened after extensive renovations, includes resurfaced tees, greens, fairways, and a driving range. The golf facilities are managed by Indigo Golf Partners.
Blue Cypress Park also boasts scenic views of the St. Johns River, accessible via a fishing pier and boardwalk completed in 2001. The park's location makes it one of the most undisturbed areas in the headwaters of the St. Johns River.
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers various athletic facilities including soccer fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. A community center, which was formerly the golf course clubhouse, serves as a focal point for community activities.
The park is open from sunrise to 9 PM, providing ample time for visitors to enjoy its numerous features. Strong currents may be present near the fishing pier.
Future plans for Blue Cypress Park include the addition of a community pool, new turf sports field, and pickleball courts, further enhancing its appeal as a comprehensive recreational destination.
