Gibson Park

Gibson Park is a public recreational area located in Miami, Florida. The park spans approximately 10.5 acres and offers a variety of facilities for community use. It underwent significant renovations and reopened in 2012 with improved amenities.

The centerpiece of Gibson Park is its multi-purpose sports field, which features artificial turf and can be used for both football and baseball. The football stadium within the park is named after Duane Starks, a former NFL player from Miami. The baseball diamond boasts bright orange dirt, creating a visually striking contrast with the green turf.

In addition to the sports field, Gibson Park includes an aquatic facility with a 25-yard short course swimming pool. This pool is designed to accommodate various swimming activities, including lap swimming, recreational swimming, and learn-to-swim programs. A separate tot pool with play features is also available for younger visitors.

The park features a community center that houses several indoor facilities. This building includes administrative offices, a lifeguard room, restrooms, locker rooms, and spaces for community activities. Gibson Park is named after the late Reverend Theodore Gibson, a prominent civil rights pioneer in Miami. This naming choice reflects the park's significance to the local community and its role in honoring important figures in the city's history.
