About Haulover Beach Park in Miami
Haulover Park is a 177-acre urban park located in metropolitan Miami, just north of Bal Harbour, Florida. Situated on a shoal between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, the park offers 1.4 miles of pristine beachfront along with a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas.
The park was first opened to the public in 1948 and has since become a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Its beautiful white sand beaches and clear blue waters provide an ideal setting for swimming, sunbathing, and water activities. The beach area features restored sand dunes and picturesque palm tree-lined picnic grounds.
One of the most notable aspects of Haulover Park is its clothing-optional beach section, which has been officially recognized since 1991. Located at the northern end of the park, this 0.4-mile stretch is the largest public nude beach in the United States, attracting visitors from around the world.
The park offers a range of activities beyond its beaches. It includes a marina for boating enthusiasts, tennis courts for sports lovers, and a nine-hole golf course. Kite flying is a popular pastime at Haulover, with a dedicated area facing Biscayne Bay and regular kite-making workshops held in the park.
For pet owners, Haulover Park features both an enclosed dog park and a designated off-leash dog beach area, allowing furry friends to enjoy the outdoors alongside their human companions.
Throughout the year, the park hosts various events and activities, including food truck gatherings, farmers markets, and fishing charters, adding to its appeal as a dynamic community space.
