Tamiami Park is a 247-acre public park located in Miami, Florida, just south of Florida International University's Modesto Maidique campus. The park, built in the late 1960s on the site of the former Tamiami Airport, offers a wide range of recreational facilities and activities for visitors of all ages.
The park is home to numerous sports fields and courts, catering to various athletic interests. Visitors can enjoy baseball, basketball, football, and soccer fields, as well as tennis courts. The park also features an outdoor, heated Olympic-size swimming pool with 22 lanes, which is open year-round and has been the site of swimming competitions for over 30 years.
For those seeking a more relaxed experience, Tamiami Park offers scenic paved paths for walking, jogging, and biking. The park includes a children's playground and picnic areas with tables and pavilions available for rent, making it an ideal spot for family outings and gatherings.
Tamiami Park is also known for hosting the annual Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition at its Fair Expo Center, which is located on the eastern side of the park. This event draws thousands of visitors each year, showcasing various exhibits, rides, and entertainment.
