About Brickell Park in Miami

Brickell Park is a small urban green space located in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The park stretches from Brickell Avenue eastward to Biscayne Bay, covering approximately two acres. It is situated about 500 feet south of the Miami River, providing a pocket of nature within the densely developed financial district.

The park holds historical significance as it was once part of the Brickell family estate. In 1925, the Brickell family donated this land to the city of Miami for use as a public park. A notable feature of the park is the Brickell family mausoleum, which still remains on the grounds, serving as a tangible link to the area's past.

Brickell Park also contains a pre-Columbian archaeological site, adding another layer of historical importance to this urban green space. The park offers visitors a chance to enjoy natural surroundings while being in close proximity to the bustling city center.

The city has made efforts to beautify the park over the years. In 1925, shortly after its donation, the park district began improving the space by adding a playground and planting trees. Today, the park features a variety of tropical vegetation, including one of the oldest coconut groves in the city lining the water's edge.

While small in size, Brickell Park provides a valuable respite for local residents and workers, offering a place for relaxation and recreation amidst the urban landscape of Miami's financial district.
