Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park is a 670-acre urban park located on the eastern shore of Lake Jackson in Tallahassee, Florida. The park was established in 1992 through a cooperative effort between the Northwest Florida Water Management District, the City of Tallahassee, and the property owner, Colin Phipps.
The park features a diverse landscape, including pine flatwoods, deciduous forests, and lakeshore habitats. Ancient magnolias, massive tulip poplars, and sinuous alluvial streams grace the terrain, providing visitors with a glimpse of north Florida's natural beauty. The hiking trails, maintained by volunteers from the Florida Trail Association, consist of several interconnected loops that wind through the park's diverse habitats.
The park is also home to two recreation areas. The Meadows Soccer Complex on Millers Landing Road serves as a youth and adult soccer facility, while the Meridian Park area has been developed as a multi-use youth sports complex. These active recreation areas occupy about 162 acres, with the remaining 600+ acres devoted to passive recreation and environmental education.
In addition to its natural features, Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park hosts the annual Red Hills International Horse Trials, a prestigious equestrian event that attracts thousands of spectators each year. The park's varied terrain and well-maintained trails make it an ideal venue for this and other outdoor events.
