Southside Park

Southside Park is a significant urban green space located in Atlanta, Georgia. Spanning 211 acres, it stands as one of the largest parks within the city limits, second only to the recently developed Westside Park. The park is situated along Jonesboro Road in the southern part of Atlanta, just north of the Perimeter (I-285).

Southside Park offers a diverse range of recreational opportunities for visitors. The park features approximately 7 miles of mountain bike and trail-running/hiking trails, designed in a stacked loop system. This trail network includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced loops, catering to various skill levels. The trails wind through forested areas, providing a natural escape within the urban environment.

For sports enthusiasts, the park includes four baseball diamonds and six pickleball courts. These facilities make Southside Park a popular destination for both organized sports and casual play. The park also maintains a concession stand to serve visitors during events or busy periods.

Accessibility to the park is primarily by car, with a parking lot available for visitors. However, a 2007 city study noted the need for improved access on foot, by bike, and by public transportation. The park's location near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport means that visitors may occasionally hear aircraft overhead, adding an urban backdrop to the natural setting.
