About Chosewood Park in Atlanta
Chosewood Park is a 6-acre green space located in the Chosewood Park neighborhood of southeast Atlanta, Georgia. The park serves as a central gathering spot for the community and offers various recreational facilities.
In 2010, the park was expanded to include approximately six additional acres to the southeast of the original park. This expansion added deep woods with nature trails, enhancing the park's natural appeal.
The park is situated on gently sloping terrain, providing visitors with unobstructed views of the downtown Atlanta skyline from its northern side. This unique vantage point adds to the park's appeal for both residents and visitors.
Chosewood Park is part of an initiative called Edible Neighborhood. In February 2013, two dozen fruit and nut trees were planted along the park's sidewalks, followed by hundreds of edible flowers in the sidewalk strips. This project aims to encourage community building, promote local food sources, and celebrate permanent plantings.
The park's location along the Atlanta BeltLine has increased its prominence and accessibility. As part of the BeltLine projects, efforts have been made to transform previously neglected industrial land near the park into vibrant green spaces.
