About Hewett Park in Boise
Hewett Park is a neighborhood park located in West Boise, Idaho. The park spans approximately 6 acres and was acquired by the City of Boise in 1980.
Hewett Park serves as a recreational space for the surrounding community along W. McMillan Road. The park features open grassy areas suitable for various activities and relaxation.
In 2024, Hewett Park underwent significant upgrades to enhance its accessibility and play options. The renovation project combined two existing playgrounds into a single, more comprehensive play area. The new playground was designed with inclusivity in mind, featuring equipment that caters to children of different ages and abilities.
The updated playground includes several notable features such as a bird nest swing, an interactive playhouse for imaginative play, various climbing structures, and a sensory garden wall. To improve safety and accessibility, the play area now has bonded rubber surfacing, which is easier to navigate for people using mobility devices.
In addition to the playground improvements, the park renovation also included the installation of an ADA-accessible concrete sidewalk. This pathway extends from W. McMillan Road to N. Oxbow Place, enhancing connectivity and making the park more accessible to all visitors.
Hewett Park is open from sunrise to sunset, providing a valuable green space for the West Boise community throughout the day.
