About Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park in Meridian
Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park is a 58-acre regional park located in Meridian, Idaho. Established in 2012, the park was a gift to the City of Meridian in honor of Julius M. Kleiner, who once farmed the land on which the park now stands.
The park features two large ponds, one approximately 3 acres in size and the other 1.5 acres. These ponds are stocked for fishing and include an accessible fishing dock. Rolling hills and an arboretum with a labyrinth add to the park's natural landscape, providing visitors with diverse terrain to explore.
A network of pedestrian pathways totaling over 3.5 miles winds through the park, offering ample space for walking, jogging, and cycling. The park also includes a loop roadway system with a bike lane, enhancing accessibility and recreational options.
At the heart of the park lies the Grand Promenade and Memorial Plaza, featuring colored concrete, pavers, ornamental pedestrian lighting, and benches. A bronze statue honoring Julius M. Kleiner stands as a centerpiece, paying tribute to the park's namesake.
The park includes a civic complex housing the Meridian Branch Library and Senior Center. For families and children, there are multiple playground areas, including tot lots and a decorative splash pad for summer enjoyment.
Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park serves as a venue for community events, concerts, and gatherings, with its bandshell/amphitheater providing a space for performances. The park also incorporates elements of public art, including three obelisks that stand as landmarks throughout the grounds.
