About Geist Waterfront Park in Fishers
Geist Waterfront Park is a 70-acre public recreational space located along the Geist Reservoir in Fishers, Indiana. This park is the only publicly accessible section of the 1,900-acre reservoir, offering a unique combination of natural beauty and recreational facilities. Its design prioritizes passive recreation, ensuring visitors enjoy an immersive outdoor experience.
The park features a sandy beach supplied with fresh water from three natural springs, along with six aerators that maintain water quality throughout the swim season, running from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Swimming is permitted during this season with lifeguards on-duty from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. A key highlight is the non-motorized boat launch, allowing visitors to enjoy direct access to the reservoir for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, with rentable equipment available during beach season.
Children can explore a large pirate-themed playground, with designated sections for toddlers and older kids. This play area includes slides, swings, climbing structures, and imaginative sand playscapes, making it a family favorite. Beyond aquatic and family activities, the park offers ample green space, walking trails, picnic shelters, and a concession stand for snacks and drinks. It is open daily from dawn to dusk, welcoming both residents and visitors year-round, with some restrictions during non-peak times.
By focusing on sustainability, the park incorporates rain gardens and bioretention swales to manage stormwater, enhancing its eco-friendly approach. Further expansions are planned, including a boardwalk and additional community-focused amenities, ensuring that the park continues to serve as an engaging and dynamic asset for the Fishers community.
