About Forest Manor Park in Indianapolis
Forest Manor Park is an 18.8-acre neighborhood park located on the east side of Indianapolis at 2000 Forest Manor Avenue. Established in 1937, the park was designed to meet the recreational needs of families moving to the suburban areas of the city during the mid-20th century. The park offers a blend of natural beauty and active recreational spaces, making it a versatile destination for visitors.
The park is divided into three distinct areas. The north section is a lush green space, ideal for passive recreation such as picnicking, outdoor reading, or simply relaxing under the shade of mature trees. Pogue’s Run Creek, a nearby waterway, enhances the park’s natural charm while nourishing the abundant tree canopy that provides a tranquil environment. The park’s central area features a well-equipped playground, making it a favorite spot for families with children.
Forest Manor Park is also a hub for youth sports, particularly baseball and softball. It hosts the local chapter of the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program, an initiative supported by Major League Baseball, aimed at providing sports opportunities for children aged 5 to 12. The park includes four baseball fields and a large practice area, catering to both organized leagues and informal games. Its setup accommodates both active and leisure activities, drawing a diverse group of visitors.
