About Sculpture Park in Davenport
The Architectural Sculpture Park, located in the Village of East Davenport in Davenport, Iowa, is a unique outdoor exhibition space that blends art and architecture. Situated along the Riverfront Parkway, this park features a collection of sculptural works that are integrated into the natural landscape.
The park showcases a grouping of structural forms derived from historic styles of buildings and homes in the Quad Cities area. These architectural sculptures serve as both artistic pieces and educational tools, offering visitors a glimpse into the architectural heritage of the region.
Originally part of Lindsay Park, the Architectural Sculpture Park was developed as a community-built project. It was conceived through a series of design meetings facilitated by Quad City Arts, involving historic preservationists, businesspeople, recreation enthusiasts, and river activists. The park was dedicated and presented to the City of Davenport on May 22, 1999.
The park's location along the Mississippi River provides visitors with scenic views while they explore the sculptural installations. It serves as an outdoor museum of sorts, allowing people to engage with art and local history in a natural setting.
