The centerpiece of Strang Park is Overland Park's first inclusive playground, designed to accommodate children of various physical and developmental capabilities. The playground features a 30-foot tower with a slide, a sensory tunnel, climbing cargo nets, and in-ground trampolines. For younger children, there is a separate toddler playground with whimsical Farmers' Market-themed play structures and a nature play area.
Beyond the playground, Strang Park offers a variety of recreational amenities. The park includes updated tennis and basketball courts, as well as a gaming promenade with cornhole, checkerboard tables, and oversized lawn chess. A loop trail surrounds the play area, providing opportunities for walking and jogging.
The park also incorporates elements of local history and inspiration. A vibrant mural by local artist Phil "Sike Style" Shafer adorns one of the walls, featuring uplifting imagery. Throughout the park, visitors can find inspiring words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. An updated shade plaza showcases the original railroad tracks from the historic Strang Line, connecting the park to its past.
