About Edgemoor Park in Wichita
Edgemoor Park is a 25.53-acre public park located at the corner of 9th and Edgemoor in Wichita, Kansas. Established in 1962 and expanded in 1967, the park features irregular topography and serves a large portion of the northeast section of the city.
The park includes a recreation center designed in an architectural style compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods. This center offers various services such as facility rentals, classes, programs, and special events. It is available for rent on weekends, except for holidays.
Edgemoor Park boasts a variety of sports facilities. There are 12 pickleball courts, of which six are lighted, available for free play. The park also features eight lighted tennis courts, two basketball/multi-use courts (north and south) with no lighting, and a soccer field/softball diamond with an all-grass surface and no lighting or seating.
For skateboarding enthusiasts, the park is home to the Ryan Woodward Memorial Skatepark. Built in 2007 and renamed in 2010, this skate park is designed for beginner to intermediate skill levels. It honors Ryan Christopher Woodward, an avid skateboarder who worked to maintain Wichita's skate parks and promote the sport of skateboarding.
The park includes a children's playground with a sand safety surface, providing a fun and safe environment for younger visitors. Additionally, there are seven picnic tables scattered throughout the park for visitors to enjoy outdoor meals or relax.
A recent addition to the park is a splash pad, open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, offering a refreshing water play area for visitors during warmer months. However, it's worth noting that pets are not allowed in the splash pad area.
For parking, the park offers one paved lot with 162 stalls, ensuring ample space for visitors arriving by car.
