Old Hammond Highway Park is a neighborhood park located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Managed by BREC (Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge), the park serves as a recreational hub for the local Tara Subdivision community and other nearby areas. The park underwent renovations as part of BREC's "Imagine Your Parks" initiative, incorporating community feedback provided by the Tara Civic Association.
The park features a playground with modern equipment, designed for the enjoyment of children and families. It also includes a paved walking trail for exercise and leisurely strolls, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful, natural environment. A refurbished ball field offers space for baseball or other field sports. One of the former tennis courts has been creatively repurposed into a modular skate park featuring skateboard-friendly equipment, catering to local youth and skateboard enthusiasts. Furthermore, picnic areas with shelters are available, making it a preferred spot for outdoor gatherings.
Efforts have been made to improve safety and aesthetics, such as clearing underbrush to improve visibility throughout the park. With its combination of facilities suited for various age groups and interests, Old Hammond Highway Park is an integral part of the community's recreational landscape.
