Shedd Park

Shedd Park is a prominent 50-acre public park situated in the Belvidere neighborhood of Lowell, Massachusetts. It is bounded by Rogers Street (Route 38), Boylston Street, and Knapp Avenue. This park serves as a significant green space in Greater Lowell, offering various recreational facilities and activities that cater to both residents and visitors.

The park is known for its wide array of features, making it a versatile destination for outdoor gatherings, sports, and family activities. Among its many amenities are multiple baseball fields that accommodate both youth and league games, as well as tennis and basketball courts available for public use. A water spray park is a popular attraction during the summer months, particularly for children seeking relief from the heat. The park's rich history adds to its appeal. It was originally gifted to the City of Lowell in 1910 by Freeman B. Shedd, a local resident and philanthropist, under the stipulation that it would forever remain a recreational space for the community. Development funding for the park was further supported by Shedd's estate after his family’s passing. The Shedd Park Field House, now named the John D. Lord Pavilion, was built in 1927 and remains a notable structure within the park.
