About The Ponds Park in Ann Arbor
The Ponds Park is a charming 2.23-acre neighborhood park located on the south side of Ann Arbor, Michigan, near the corner of Packard and Stone School. It provides visitors with two distinct sections: a developed area and a natural area, each offering unique experiences.
The developed section includes a small playground, which features an accessible swing, making it more inclusive for children of varying abilities. Adjacent to the playground are garden spaces filled with shade trees and a vibrant array of three-season perennials like daffodils, irises, daisies, and fountain grasses, providing a serene and colorful environment. This area also includes an open, mowed field, suitable for casual games or relaxation, and seating options such as benches, picnic tables, and a grill for outdoor meals.
The northern part of the park contains the natural area, where visitors can enjoy walking along trails under the canopy of tall trees, including cottonwoods. This portion emphasizes a quiet and more secluded experience with nature. Although there are ponds nearby, they are part of an adjacent apartment complex and not publicly accessible.
The park is easily accessible from the neighborhood, with the main entrance situated on Emerald Avenue. Street parking is available nearby, and sidewalks leading to the park make it convenient for pedestrians and cyclists. A trail entrance from Victoria Avenue offers additional access to the natural area.
The Ponds Park invites both relaxation and activity, serving as a peaceful retreat within the city. It is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight unless otherwise specified by city regulations.
