About Vineyards Lake Park in Columbia
Vineyards Lake Park is a picturesque 43.85-acre neighborhood park located in Columbia, Missouri. Acquired by the city in 2016, the park fulfills a community need identified in the 2013 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan. It features a serene 11.4-acre lake that provides opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating, with a small ramp specifically designed for hand-carried boats such as kayaks. The lake is managed in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The park is thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, offering an ADA-compliant fishing dock and a concrete walking trail that extends approximately 854 feet along one side of the lake. A future trail extension is planned to further enhance the park’s offerings. A playground provides an enjoyable space for children, while a single, non-reservable shelter with a picnic table is available for visitors to relax and take in the tranquil surroundings.
Vineyards Lake Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., making it a convenient retreat for leisurely strolls, fishing, or family outings. Its development was funded through local park sales taxes, ensuring the community's investment in an enriching recreational space. The park continues to evolve with planned improvements, making it a valuable asset for neighboring residents and visitors alike.
