Norma Sutherland Smith Park

Norma Sutherland Smith Park, located in Columbia, Missouri, spans 50.3 acres and offers diverse recreational and leisure options suitable for visitors of all ages. The park is situated adjacent to Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary School, making it easily accessible for the local community. Named after the donor’s mother, the park's land was generously gifted in 1999 by Jeffrey Smith, with subsequent development funded by the 2010 Park Sales Tax.

A central feature of the park is its 2.8-acre fishing lake, which is managed collaboratively with the Missouri Department of Conservation. This lake is surrounded by a 0.3-mile lake trail, ideal for walking or jogging while enjoying scenic views. An additional 0.25 miles of concrete trail adds to the park's accessibility for casual strolls or exercise.

The park's amenities cater to both active and relaxed outdoor activities. There is a playground for children, a skate park for more adventurous visitors, and a full-size basketball court. Sports enthusiasts can also take advantage of a baseball/softball practice field. For group gatherings, the park includes a large reservable shelter equipped with electrical outlets and covered BBQ grills, making it a great spot for picnics or community events. Restrooms with ADA-accessible drinking fountains are available seasonally from mid-April through mid-October. Parking is also conveniently provided.
