About Jordan Valley Park in Springfield
Jordan Valley Park is a 12-acre green oasis located in the heart of downtown Springfield, Missouri at 635 E. Trafficway. The park, which opened in 2002, was born from Springfield's Vision 20/20 long-range plan and played a significant role in spurring downtown renewal in the 1990s and 2000s.
Once a blighted industrial area, Jordan Valley Park now offers a mix of open plazas, rolling hills, play features, picnic areas, and walking paths. The centerpiece of the park is the Ozarks Stream and Fountain, which operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day. During this period, the fountain puts on a 30-minute show every hour from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with continuous operation from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The park features several unique attractions, including the K-Man kinetic sculpture, the Springfield Wagon play area, and a climbing rock. Visitors can also enjoy the Rotary Picnic Area and Outdoor Classroom. The Jordan Valley Greenway connects the park to nearby Founders Park, offering extended walking and jogging opportunities.
Jordan Valley Park is also home to both temporary and permanent sculpture installations, in partnership with Sculpture Walk Springfield. This adds an artistic element to the park's landscape, providing visitors with an opportunity to appreciate public art in an outdoor setting.
The park serves as a versatile community space, available for rentals and special events. Its design, which grew from the collective vision of more than 300 citizens, incorporates a thoughtful mixture of open spaces, buildings, water features, meadows, playgrounds, and plazas.
