About Buder Park in St Louis

Buder Playground is a 2.31-acre city park located in St. Louis, Missouri. Established in 1912, it was named after Susan Rassieur Buder, a notable German immigrant who settled in the city. The park was created as part of Buder's wish to provide recreational facilities for the children of St. Louis.

Situated between Rutger, California, Hickory, and Ewing Avenues in the Gate District neighborhood, Buder Playground offers various amenities for community recreation. The park features basketball courts, volleyball courts, and playground equipment for children.

The park's terrain includes a raised area that provides excellent views of Downtown and Midtown St. Louis. A concrete retaining wall surrounds the park, though it has deteriorated over time and requires maintenance. The western edge of the park houses the primary recreational facilities, while the eastern portion consists mainly of an open field.

In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize Buder Playground. Local residents and city officials have been working together to improve the park's facilities and make it a more positive asset for the neighborhood.
