Government Square

Government Square Park is a small urban park located in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. Situated at the intersection of 10th and O Streets, this pocket park occupies a historic city block that was originally designated as "Market Square" in Lincoln's 1867 city plan.

The centerpiece of Government Square Park is the Acklie Fountain, a limestone water feature that was gifted to the city of Lincoln in honor of Duane and Phyllis Acklie. The fountain's design incorporates agricultural motifs, with corn and wheat elements featured prominently, reflecting Nebraska's agricultural heritage.

Despite its compact size, Government Square Park provides a peaceful green space amid the bustling downtown area. The park offers seating areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the fountain or take a break from work or shopping. Seasonal flowers and plantings add color and visual interest throughout the year, with purple asters being a notable feature in front of the fountain during certain seasons.
