Cooper Park

Cooper Park is a historic neighborhood park located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Established in 1867, it holds the distinction of being Lincoln's oldest park. The park spans approximately 11.52 acres and is situated in the South Salt Creek neighborhood near 6th and D Streets.

Cooper Park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors. The park features one baseball/softball field, which is considered one of Lincoln Parks & Recreation's premier fields with agri-lime infields. This field is classified as a Gold level Ballfield, indicating its high quality and maintenance standards.

In addition to the ballfield, Cooper Park provides other amenities for community use. The park includes lighted facilities, allowing extended hours of play for activities such as sand volleyball, tennis, and baseball. This lighting feature enables residents to enjoy the park's facilities even after sunset.

The park also holds cultural significance, featuring a statue called "Daydreams" that resembles Dorothy and Toto from L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz". This statue was dedicated in the park on July 12, 2002, adding a touch of whimsy and literary connection to the park's landscape.
