Danish Vennelyst Park

Danish Vennelyst Park is a 20-acre wooded area located in Florence, Omaha, Nebraska at 9100 North 31st Street. Established in 1934 by a Danish fraternal group called the Danish Venneforening, the park has served as a significant gathering place for Omaha's Danish immigrant community for decades.

The park features a mix of open areas and wooded landscapes, providing a natural setting within the urban environment. It houses a pavilion that can accommodate up to 200 people, making it suitable for various events and gatherings. The facility is equipped with both air conditioning and heating, allowing for year-round use regardless of weather conditions.

Throughout its history, Danish Vennelyst Park has been a center for Danish cultural celebrations, including Denmark's Constitution Day (Grundlovsdag). Various Danish organizations, such as the Danish Sisterhood and Danish Brotherhood, have held regular picnics and events at the park. Over time, it has also become a popular venue for weddings, parties, and other community gatherings.

In 1970, a new clubhouse was constructed in the park, enhancing its facilities. The park is currently operated by the Danish American Society of Omaha, which maintains the grounds and hall. While it retains its Danish heritage, the park now serves the broader Omaha community as a rental venue for various events.
