Ellwanger Barry

Ellwanger & Barry Park is a small neighborhood park located in Rochester, New York. The park has a rich history, dating back to 1877 when the land was originally donated by George Ellwanger and Patrick Barry, prominent horticulturists in the area. Initially, a school was built on the site, but in 1934 it was torn down and replaced with the current park and playground.

The park serves as a valuable community space in the southeast quadrant of Rochester. It features open green areas suitable for picnics and gatherings, as well as recreational facilities for children. The park is known for its abundance of trees, providing shade and natural beauty to the area.

In 2009, the park was officially renamed to honor Ellwanger and Barry, recognizing their contribution to the city's landscape. The park includes both modern play structures and traditional playground equipment, catering to children of various ages. A sandbox area is also available, maintaining some of the park's original features.
