About Apex Community Park in Cary
Apex Community Park is a sprawling 160-acre public urban park located on the eastern end of Apex, North Carolina, bordered by Laura Duncan Road on the west and Lake Pine Drive on the east. The park's centerpiece is a 50+ acre lake, which provides a serene backdrop for various recreational activities.
The park features over 3 miles of developed nature and fitness trails, including 2 miles of paved greenway and 1 mile of natural walking trail. These trails offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy the park's natural beauty, observe local wildlife, and engage in physical activities. A 2-mile loop around the lake is particularly popular among walkers and joggers.
Apex Community Park caters to a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts and sports lovers. The park includes multiple athletic fields and courts for various sports, as well as dedicated areas for children's play. Fishing is permitted from a designated dock, and the park participates in the NC Wildlife Community Fishing Program, with the lake stocked with channel catfish.
For water recreation, the park allows canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, sailboards, john boats, and rowing skulls on the lake. These vessels must be launched from the designated launch site and cannot exceed 14 feet in length. Both fishing and boating require permits.
